H.E. Dr. Motsoko Pheko


Dr. Motsoko Pheko is an Advocate for the High Court of Zambia as well as an Advocate for the Supreme Court of South Africa. Dr. Pheko has recently been President of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC). He has been a member of the PAC since 1960 and has served in various capacities. Dr. Pheko is a former Representative of the African liberation struggle at the United Nations in New York and at the Commission on Human Rights in Geneva. During the struggle against apartheid and colonialism, he was imprisoned in South Africa, Mozambique and Rhodesia for his anti-colonial activities. He was in exile for 30 years.
 
He holds a B.A. degree from the University of South Africa, majoring in Political Science and Systematic Theology and reading Sociology and History; a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia, a Master of Laws degree in international law from the University of London, a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Kensington.
 
He is an author of several books on history, law, political science and theology. His latest books are, How Africans Can Regain Their Lost Power, Land Is Money And Power, Who Are The Africans?, The History Of Roben Island Must Be Preserved, The History Of Sharpeville Must Be Told. His hundreds of articles have been published nationally and internationally. During the World Summit on Sustainable Development, held in Johannesburg, 26th August to 4th September, Dr. Pheko gave a paper titled CAN THERE BE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT WITHOUT LAND REPOSSESSION BY THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE?
 
Dr, Pheko is a Founder of Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya and of Tokoloho Development Association in South Africa. The latter promotes and researches indigenous knowledge of the African people before they were colonized and publishes this knowledge in print, audio and videotapes. Dr. Pheko steadfastly fights for the decolonization of the African mind.
 
He has traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, America and Africa. Dr. Pheko is presently a Member of Parliament in the South African Parliament and serves on several Portfolio Committees including Foreign Affairs, Safety and Security, Justice and Constitutional Development and Culture Arts Science and Technology. He was described as the best speaker of the year in Parliament in 2004.
