Mr. Paul Smith Paul Wellington Smith, Hospital Administrator, Pharmacist, Entrepreneur, and Photographer, was Vice President of Professional Services at Providence Hospital, Washington, D.C. (until his retirement in 2006). Mr. Smith was born in Jacksonville, Florida. His parents, Pauline a school teacher and William a businessman, are no doubt proud of their son. Mr. Smith is married to Dr. Gaurdia E. Banister who is Senior VP of Patient Care Services at Providence Hospital in D.C. He owned and operated an apothecary and photographic division while serving as a consultant to a major health care management and consulting firm. He also performed numerous consulting tasks for the American Society of Hospital Pharmacist and Planning and Human Systems, Inc. in Washington, D.C. He taught pharmacology at the School of Nursing in Catholic University, Washington, D.C.; was also a clinical instructor at the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Howard University and also at the University of Maryland. Additionally, Mr. Smith was on the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Legislative and Regulatory Committee of the American Hospital Association Society of Ambulatory Care Professionals and was a founder of the Association of Black Hospital Pharmacists. He was also President of the Board of Pharmacy in DC. |
