Dr. Alafuele Mbuyi Kalala, D.Sc. Dr. Kalala holds a Doctor of Science Degree with a specialization in biochemistry and biophysics. Dr. Kalala worked as a scientist (Biomedical Research/ Biophysics/ Biochemistry) at the National Institute of Health (NIH) from 1990 – 1997 in Bethesda, Maryland. He also holds advanced degrees in philosophy, pedagogy and applied economics. He is a member of numerous professional and cultural societies, ranging from the New York Academy of Sciences to the World Federation of Scientists. Dr. Kalala served as a member of parliament in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) from 2003 to the present. He also serves, since 2002, as the chairman of the "Africa Friendship and Renaissance Association, AFRAS" the aim of which is the promotion of collaboration, understanding, and integration between Africans at the grass-root level. Since 1996 Dr. Kalala chairs the "Rally for a New Society, RNS", a DRC’s political party. He was a presidential candidate in the 2006 DRC’s presidential elections. |
